What I Said
I rated FTNT a Sell because I thought the valuation was already pricing in a stronger growth profile than the company had actually delivered. My core point was that revenue growth at 20.1% was solid but not enough to justify the premium unless it reaccelerated above 25.0%, while operating margin and free cash flow would need to keep improving to defend that multiple.
Peer Comparison

| NET | +26.2% |
| PANW | +8.7% |
| QLYS | +25.7% |
| ZS | +28.3% |
Why It’s Working (Or Not)
So far, that call has not worked: if I had shorted FTNT at my entry price, I would be down 3.6% over the review window, so the signal has moved against me. The stock has also held up while the peer set has been mixed to stronger overall, with several comparable security names posting much larger gains, which weakens my argument that FTNT was the obvious valuation outlier. The specific thesis point I leaned on most — that the market was paying for growth acceleration the company had not yet shown — has not been validated by this first month. I also do not yet have evidence that revenue growth has slipped below 15.0% for two consecutive quarters or that operating margin has rolled toward the low 20s, so the bearish case has not been confirmed on the operating side either.
What Could Still Prove Me Wrong
If FTNT shows a clear reacceleration above 25.0% in revenue growth while keeping operating margin near 31.3%, that would directly undermine my valuation argument. I would also be wrong if the company continues to generate around $1.8B of levered free cash flow and moves meaningfully toward $2B without the expense step-up hurting profitability. On the other hand, if revenue growth drops below 15.0% for two straight quarters or margins start sliding toward the low 20s, that would support the original Sell thesis rather than disprove it.
