What I Said
I argued that FLNC’s large storage opportunity was real, but that the stock still depended on backlog quality, margin execution, liquidity, and whether short interest was correctly pricing operational risk. My specific concern was that the company was growing revenue without yet proving durable cash generation, with negative EBITDA, negative levered free cash flow, and a financing-dependent balance sheet still doing the heavy lifting.

Why It’s Working (Or Not)
So far, following my Sell would have earned about 20.7%, which means the bearish call has been working. The stock has moved lower while the comparable group has been mixed to mostly down as well, so FLNC has not shown the kind of relative resilience that would have challenged my thesis. The key part of my original reasoning that has held up is the cash-burn and liquidity concern: I said the business needed to convert backlog into self-funding growth, and the market has not rewarded it for that yet. I also pointed to short interest as a risk, but the price action so far suggests that skepticism was not misplaced. I cannot claim the thesis is fully proven, though, because the core question was always whether backlog conversion and margins would improve enough to change the cash profile.
What Could Still Prove Me Wrong
What could still prove me wrong is a sustained improvement in the exact operating metrics I flagged: revenue growth staying above 15% for multiple quarters, operating margin turning positive, and free cash flow moving above zero. If the company also shows that the current liquidity cushion is no longer being consumed and the customer concentration risk does not translate into execution problems, that would weaken my bearish case materially. On the other hand, if EBITDA and free cash flow remain deeply negative or the current ratio deteriorates further, that would reinforce the Sell.
