What I Said
I rated AMBA a Sell because I thought the company had enough growth and liquidity to keep investing, but not enough operating leverage to justify a 7.1x EV/revenue multiple with confidence. My view was that the key test was whether revenue could stay above $100M and margins could start to turn positive, because that would show the AI ramp was broadening and fixed costs were being absorbed.

Why It’s Working (Or Not)
Following the Sell has worked over this tracking window: AMBA is down from my entry price, which means a short position would have been profitable by about 11.8%. That outcome is consistent with my core concern that the valuation was running ahead of durable earnings power. The peer set has been mixed, with several names higher and several lower, so AMBA has not simply moved with the group; it has still diverged enough to support my bearish call. The specific thesis point that has held up is the lack of proof that revenue growth is translating into operating leverage, which was the central reason I did not want to pay up for the stock.
What Could Still Prove Me Wrong
I would start to reconsider if quarterly revenue holds above $100M for the next two quarters and operating margin turns positive, because that would show the fixed-cost base is finally being absorbed. I would also be less bearish if operating cash flow moves toward the $60M-$70M range on a trailing basis, since that would improve the balance-sheet cushion and reduce the need for multiple expansion to carry the stock. On the downside for my thesis, a move back below $90M in quarterly revenue or gross margin slipping under 58% would reinforce the view that the mix shift is not offsetting cost pressure.
