What I Said

I rated CUE a Sell because I thought the financing clock would matter before the clinical story could fully re-rate the stock. My core concern was that the company had only $27.1M of cash at year-end 2025, while valuation still looked rich at 5.1x EV/revenue despite negative free cash flow. I also said I would get more bearish if the Q2 2026 IND slipped or if burn stayed near $50.1M TTM.

Why It’s Working (Or Not)

Over this tracking window, following my Sell signal would have earned 6.3%, which means the bearish call has worked to date. The stock is down from my entry price, and that move is directionally consistent with my view that dilution risk and a tight cash runway were the nearer issue than clinical optionality. The peer group has also been broadly weak, with the comparable names mostly lower as well, so CUE has not stood out as a clear exception to the sector’s pressure. The specific concern I highlighted — limited cash against ongoing burn — has remained the right lens for the call, even if the clinical platform still carries optionality.

What Could Still Prove Me Wrong

If CUE files the Q2 2026 IND on time and then shows human safety data without a meaningful step-up in cash burn, I would have to reconsider the bearish stance. I would also be wrong if operating cash outflow falls materially below the roughly $50M TTM pace I flagged, because that would ease the financing pressure I thought was central. A partnership or financing package that covers at least a year of burn would also weaken the dilution case that drove my Sell rating.
